Last week we learned we lost our baby at almost 16 weeks. I went in for a regular ob checkup and the heartbeat was gone. I had a D&C on Tuesday and ended up spending the night in the hospital due to bleeding but was able to go home on Wednesday morning. Dustin happened to have Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off work and it was truly a tender mercy. I didn't have to call him and tell him over the phone and he was able to take care of me most of the week without taking sick time, which he doesn't have a lot of. Alex was spending the week with his dad so we knew he was taken care of. Another tender mercy.
We were able to go to the temple on Friday night. I probably should have been in bed but sometimes its worth the exhaustion to get out and do something for someone else. That sounds so noble and unselfish but I really wanted a reason to sit in the Celestial Room.
In happier news, Alex started second grade today. I've never seen a kid so excited to start school. He was ready with his backpack on a full half hour before we had to leave. We did arrive early just to register him for the afterschool program and he was just bursting with excitement.
Dustin is starting class next week. We found out that a local college has an Associate of Science in Aviation and he expressed an interest in working towards it. He's had some trouble getting a hold of the director to transfer his current aviation credits in but the German 101 class should be interesting.
All in all, I'll be glad when this year is over and next year begins. Its been a weird one for a lot of friends and family.

I was really saddened to hear about your loss. I hope sitting in the celestial room brought some comfort.
I hope Alex has a good school year. I think it's cute how excited little children get for school. A little kindergartener in my church class told me that he was going to be "cool" because of his new shirt. It made me smile. :)
I was and am still so sad for you having to go through this. Just know that I am thinking of you and sending you lots of hugs!
